Best frozen garlic brands out there
Well, most frozen garlic bread tastes more or less the same. I have never found one that I like better than the New York bakery's garlic bread. Other than that, in my personal opinion, Perreridge farm garlic bread and Furlani garlic bread are also great.
For this recipe, you can use any garlic bread that you have.
Ingredients
All you need is frozen garlic bread for making this recipe. I had Furlani garlic bread in my freezer. So I am going to use that for demonstrating how you can toast frozen garlic bread in an air fryer. I am also going to use some cheese and dried herbs mixture.
Other than that, you need a trusted air fryer. I am using Bella pro-series-8 qt digital air fryer.
So let us get making!
Preparation to air fry the frozen garlic bread
There is nothing much to the meal prep in this recipe. Just grate some cheese and mix in the dried herbs of your choice and set aside.
How to make frozen garlic bread in an air fryer?
Step 1 Remove the wrap of the frozen garlic bread and cut it into pieces
Unwrap the frozen garlic bread and slice it into pieces according to the size of the basket of your air fryer. It is always better to cut the garlic bread into smaller pieces. As you know that air fryers cook the food by circulating hot air. So, when smaller pieces are spread on the basket, they will have gaps between them, which will allow the air to circulate freely through them. This ensures even cooking in an air fryer.
But if you are making only half or a small portion of the garlic bread, or have a bigger air fryer, you might not need to make smaller pieces. But if you have a small basket and you want to accommodate more garlic bread in it, consider cutting the bread into smaller pieces.
Step 2 Air fry the garlic bread
Now spread the garlic bread pieces in the basket of the air fryer. There is no need to grease the tray of the basket. Sticking is not going to be an issue with bread and all.
Place the garlic bread in a way that you leave gaps in between the pieces and towards the corner so that air can circulate freely and cook the bread evenly. Also, avoid overlapping the bread. This can make the bread soggy as the vapors from the bread beneath seep into the overlapped frozen garlic bread.
Now push in the air fryer basket and air fry the frozen garlic bread at 370 0F for 4-5 minutes.
The actual time will vary depending on how much-frozen garlic bread you are putting in the air fryer basket.
Mine took about 4 minutes. I air-fried my frozen garlic bread in two batches. It took 4 minutes for each batch, 8 minutes for the entire loaf of the frozen garlic bread.
Had I been in a hurry, I would have sliced them all a little smaller and fitted them all into the basket. That would have taken 9-10 minutes at 370 0F. Since I have a large air fryer, I have the luxury of that.
But I still chose to do it in batches as the overall time was still less. This is because overcrowded food cooks slower in an air fryer as the air circulation gets limited by the food. Also, it does not cook that evenly.
Please note that, if you are using a frozen Texas toast, you might want to flip them halfway in between. But this kind of garlic bread does not require you to flip them.
Step 3 Top the toasted garlic bread with a cheese mix of your choice and air fry (optional)
This is an optional step. Just grate your favorite cheese and top the garlic bread with it . I have used a mix of Monterey jack, cheddar, and parmesan, and added dried oregano, and basil. Then, I sprinkle the cheese evenly on the toasted garlic bread and put it to air fry at 370 0F for 2 more minutes.
And that should be all. Your garlic bread is ready.
If you want to cut the carbs and keep it a low-carb recipe, omit the cheese and this step.
Frozen garlic bread in an air fryer in no time: A quick tip for the moms who are always in hurry!
If you are in a hurry, you can bump up the temperature to 400 0F and your frozen garlic bread would be done in lesser time. Less than 3 minutes! I often use this temperature when I make garlic bread as a quick snack for my kids.
You know kids are impatient most of the time. Mommy is it ready?? A question that is asked every 10 seconds! So yeah... It works fine, but not the best temperature. The bread browns very quickly can become over-crispy if not checked on time.
How to reheat garlic bread in air fryer
Let us say that you have some leftover garlic bread from lunch and you want to reheat them for dinner. To reheat the leftover garlic bread, air fry them at 340 0F for 2-3 minutes by placing them evenly in the air fryer basket. It may take more or less time depending on how much bread you place in the air fryer and the size of your air fryer basket. So, it is a good idea to check at 2 minutes and cook more if not done.
If you have some leftover garlic bread, that you do not plan to eat within a few hours, it is better to freeze it again. Wrap it in foil and place it in a freezer-safe Ziplock bag. Then, reheat it just the way you made it in the first place.
How to serve garlic bread? A few suggestions for using the leftover garlic bread.
Well, nobody needs a piece of advice on how to serve garlic bread. It makes a great side for soups, stews, and pasta dishes. Not to forget that it is good on its own as well. But I want to talk about some ways that you can use garlic bread to make a whole new dish. Or add a twist of your own to the left-over bread.
- Top the toasted garlic bread with marinara sauce, sprinkle some cheese, and voila! A garlic bread pizza is ready.
- You can put some salsa on the top, add some queso fresco!
- Fill it with some veggies, pickles, sauces, and make a garlic bread sandwich.
- Or just add cheese of your choice to make a garlic bread cheese sandwich.
- You can also spread some chutney and add some sliced cucumbers, and tomatoes to make an Indian-inspired garlic bread sandwich.
These were a few ideas to get you a starter. I hope your kids will also like these fun recipes of frozen garlic bread using an air fryer, just as much as my kids love them.
If you are a garlic lover, I have a sourdough garlic bread recipe that is made with toasted minced garlic that might interest you. It makes great garlic toast. Just add some softened butter, toast, and top with grated parmesan cheese.
Suggestions for the first-time users:
Are you are just starting with an air fryer? A few general suggestions that stay true to this recipe as well.
- If you are new to an air fryer, my advice to you is to just think of an air fryer as a small and efficient oven and beyond, with some smart and dynamic technology behind it. An air fryer cook and reheat most things like an oven, but quicker and better! Do not limit its use to air fryer frozen foods only.
- All air fryers are built differently. They come in different sizes and shapes, and temperature settings. So, to get the same results with two different sized or designed air fryers, there could be a differential of a few seconds to a few minutes.
- Pull out the air fryer basket before the lowest given cook time in a recipe and see for yourself, how much more time do you need. Your garlic bread might need lesser than the suggested time. This way you will know the cooking time that works best for you.
(You might be using a smaller air fryer that will heat faster or you might have put much less bread in the basket. In both these situations your frozen garlic bread will toast faster.) This applies to all the air fryer recipes you will make. It does not hurt to open the basket while air frying the frozen foods ( or any other recipe ). And it is always a good idea to constantly return to check the food that you are cooking.
Pro tips for toasting the garlic bread in an air fryer
- Put the garlic bread in the air fryer in a single layer, such that there are gaps for air circulation. Never overcrowd or overlap the bread.
- you have a small air fryer basket and you want to accommodate more garlic bread in it, consider cutting the bread into smaller pieces.
- If you are using Texas toast, do not forget to flip the frozen garlic bread slices halfway through the cooking time. This ensures even cooking on all sides. If you are using French baguette-style garlic bread, there is no need to flip the bread. Also, if you are topping it with cheese, do not attempt to flip it.
- It is always a good idea to open the air fryer and check for the doneness before the suggested time.

Well, you can use any temperature from 350 0F to 400 0F to cook garlic bread. 350 0F takes much longer, whereas 400 0F is very quick and ideal for thin slices. But if you are using French baguette-style bread,( like I used here) 400 0F will not work best. The garlic toast will brown way before the interior softens and absorbs the garlic butter.
That is why I recommend using the temperature of 3700F to cook garlic bread in an air fryer.
