Rose milk tea is a rose-scented sweet, floral, and aromatic tea that is soothing and refreshing. This recipe is iced sweet rose bubble tea is a drink to impress but so easy to make. It will leave you wanting more. The flavor of tea coupled with rose pleasantly hits your palate in every sip.
3tablespoonrose syrup (or Rose extract read notes.)
2teabags of black tea (or 2 teaspoon black tea leaves)
2cupswhole milk(or plant-based milk)
⅓cupblack boba
¼cupof brown sugar syrup or maple syrup
A few dry rose petals for garnish
Instructions
Step 1 Brewing the tea
First, boil water in a kettle or a pan to 2120F (or 100 0C). Turn off the heat and pour 1 cup of boiling water into a cup.
Put both the black tea bags in the cup with boiling water and cover.
Let the tea steep for 3 minutes and then uncover. Remove the teabags and chill the brewed tea until you are ready to assemble the tiger milk tea.
If you are using tea leaves, add the leaves to the tea infuser and pour boiling water. Let the tea leaves steep for 3 minutes. Then, strain the tea and let it cool.
Step 2 Cooking Tapioca pearls/ boba
Bring about 5 cups of water to a boil. Then add the brown sugar boba to the boiling water. Let them cook at high to medium heat until they all start to float at the top. It will take 3-5 minutes.
Then reduce the heat and let them cook for 5-7 more minutes or until they become soft and chewy.
Then, turn off the heat and keep them in the boiling water for 5 more minutes. Then drain the water and gather the cooked tapioca pearls. Put the cooked boba in a bowl and add brown sugar syrup. Set aside.
Step 3 Making rose milk
Add rose syrup, to the milk and mix well. If you are using rose extract, you might want to add some sugar here.
Step 4 Assemble tiger milk tea boba
Add cooked boba pearls, followed by the ice cubes, equally in all the glasses.
Then, pour in the brewed tea and rose milk. Put in the wide boba straws and garnish with some dry rose petals. Use the boba straws to mix and enjoy the rose milk tea.
Notes
You can make rose syrup at your home by using some dry rose petals (or buds), rose water, sugar, and dry hibiscus petals. (Find the complete recipe in the post)
The ideal water temperature to brew the tea is 212 0F or 100 0C. So just as the water starts to boil, you know that you reached the right temperature to steep the tea.
Make the tea in advance and chill it in the fridge.
Cook the tapioca pearls or boba right before making the rose milk tea. They taste best when made fresh. The exact time needed to cook boba will vary with the type of boba you use. But look for them to come to the top. It is better to use quick-cooking boba.
If you have only rose water with you and you want to make rose bubble tea. Brew the tea in rose water. It means, using 1 cup of rose water and brewing the tea in that water.
If you replace the rose syrup with rose extract, increase the amount of brown sugar syrup or add 2 tablespoons of sugar to compensate for the sweetness that rose syrup adds.
