Meenakshi
Making biscuits in air fryer is so easy and quick that you will be forced to ditch the oven. You can make it in an air fryer. Whether you like the flaky or fluffy biscuits, an air fryer can make them all a reality in a matter of minutes from frozen biscuits, refrigerated or canned biscuits, or homemade fresh biscuits. They turn out perfect for your sandwiches, jelly toast or to go along with the gravy dishes.

Equipment

  • air fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 pack Biscuits (I used refrigerated canned)

Instructions

Canned refrigerated biscuits in air fryer basket style air fryers

Step 1: Preheat the air fryer

    • Start by preheating the air fryer for 4 minutes. To do so, just turn on the air fryer and set the temperature at 330 0F ( 165 0C) for 4 minutes. Let it run with an empty basket.

Step 2: air fry the biscuits

    • Now open the canned biscuits and separate them. Place 4 of them in the air fryer basket giving adequate space for expansion and air circulation. Give them a milk wash if you want to.
    • Then air fry them at 330 0F (165 0C) for 5 minutes. Pull out the basket and flip the biscuits. Cook them for 4 more minutes or until they turn golden brown.
    • Since these are jumbo biscuits, they took about 9 minutes in total. If you are using medium-sized biscuits, you might want to pull out the air fryer basket after air frying for 2–3-minute post-flip.
    • Repeat the process with the remaining biscuits.
    • Take them out and serve warm with your favorite jam or just butter.

Canned refrigerated biscuits in oven style air fryer

    • To make the canned biscuits in an oven-style air fryer, use only a single shelf. Overcrowding both the shelves leave them undercooked. Use a single shelf and lay the canned biscuits on it, while giving adequate space.
    • Then air fry them at 330 0F for 8-10 minutes depending on the size of the biscuits. There is no need to flip the biscuits in the oven-style air fryers.

    Frozen biscuits in air fryer

    • After preheating the oven, air fry the frozen biscuits for 10-12 minutes at 330 0F ( 165 0C ).

    Homemade biscuits in air fryer

    • Lay the homemade biscuits in the preheated air fryer and let them cook for 9-10 at 330 0F or until they turn golden brown.

    Notes

    • Adjust the air fryer timing depending on the type of biscuits. The frozen biscuits will take 2-3 minutes more than the refrigerated or homemade biscuits.
    • Also, look for the size of the biscuits the jumbo biscuits will take 2-3 minutes more than the standard-sized biscuits.
    • Do not place the biscuits very closely. They need space to rise plus additional space for the air circulation after the biscuits have risen. The simple rule is not to overcrowd the biscuits in an air fryer. 4-5 are max. for an 8qt basket style air fryer.
    • If you are using an oven-style air fryer, use only one shelf at a time. Also, there is no need to flip the biscuits in such air fryers.
    • But if you are using an air fryer that has a basket, you should be turning them halfway through the cooking time. Though this does have some cosmetic side effects flipping ensures even cooking on both sides. This guarantees no undercooked core.
    • If you are unsure if the biscuits are fully cooked through, look for a brown color on both sides. Alternately you can use an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature. It should be more than 205 degrees F (more than 96 degrees C).
    • It is always a good idea to open the air fryer and check for the doneness 2-3 minutes before the suggested time. Pull out the air fryer basket before the lowest given cook time in a recipe and see for yourself, how much more time you need.
