These extra fine frozen green beans made in air fryer are addictive. These garlicky, crispy, fine green beans make a perfect side dish for all occasions. The ease of cooking beans in an air fryer makes getting veggies on the table a lot quicker and more convenient.

Well, you cannot beat fresh green beans, but frozen green beans are the only option when green beans are not easy to find. Sometimes beans are so overpriced, especially during the offseason. I always have bags of frozen green beans sitting in my freezer in that case.
I specifically like them as there is no pep involved. And whenever I am running out of time to put dinner on the table, it is one of my go-to recipes.
Though you can cook frozen beans in an oven, instant pot, stovetop, or even in a microwave, nothing matches the convenience of an air fryer.

🥘Ingredients for making air fryer frozen green beans
Frozen green beans
I have used extra-fine green beans. They are the best-frozen beans that you can get. Other types of frozen green beans may or may not be tender, but these are always perfect.
You can use whichever green beans you have.
Olive oil
You can use any vegetable oil of your choice. Olive oil or avocado oil is what I like to use. If you want to go for butter, then you wait until they cook. You coat them in salt and spices after the beans are done air frying, else butter just solidifies on meeting frozen beans and does not cover the beans properly.

Salt and spice
Here you can use your favorite spicing option. I have used salt, black pepper, ground cumin, garlic powder, and chili powder.
Other spicing variations that you can choose to use an air fryer green beans are:
- Simple butter and salt green beans.
- Use Italian seasoning
- Taco seasoning
- Chaat masala
- Chinese spice mix
- Balsamic reductions
See the recipe card for quantities.
🍶Equipment
Though you can cook the green beans the way you want but for making this recipe you will need an air fryer. I have used an 8qt Bella professional air fryer.
🔪Instructions to make frozen green beans in air fryer
Step 1 Preheat the air fryer
Start by preheating the air fryer for 5 minutes. Just set the air fryer temperature to 400 0F and let it run with an empty basket or empty rack for 5 minutes.
Step 2 Prepare spice mix

The best thing about cooking with frozen veggies is no prep! Yeah! Just tear open a bag of frozen green beans.
Transfer them into a bowl. Then add all the spices with salt and olive oil. Toss the frozen green beans in the bowl to get fully coated with the spices.
Step 3 Air fry frozen green beans
Open the air fryer basket and spread the spice-coated extra fine green beans in a single layer.
Do this step carefully as the basket must be hot at this point. I like to use tongs to spread the beans uniformly in the air fryer basket.
Then cook frozen green beans in the air fryer for 9-10 minutes or until they are cooked through and become crunchy.

Do not forget to shake the basket halfway through the cooking time to flip the green beans for even air frying on all sides.
To serve, place them in a serving bowl or a serving plate. Garnish with grated cheese or chopped herbs of your choice.
The cooking time and temperature for making all sorts of green beans in air fryer will vary by a few minutes. The following table can be used as a guide. The table stands true to about 1 lb. beans cooked in 6-8 qt air fryers.
Type of Green Beans | Air Fryer Temp. ( 0F) | Cook Time |
Frozen extra fine green beans | 400 | 8 minutes |
Frozen cut green beans | 400 | 12 minutes |
Frozen whole green beans | 400 | 12-14 minutes |
Fresh whole green beans | 375 | 15 minutes |
Breaded green beans | 400 | 8-10 minutes |
If you like crispy beans like me, you can always take it 1-2 minutes further depending on how you like your beans.
🫙Storage Tips
Store the air fried green beans in an air-tight container or a zip-locked bag and refrigerate for 2-3 days.

♨️Reheating Instructions
Are you wondering, how to reheat frozen green beans in air fryer?
To reheat the green bean, air fry them at 350 0F for 4-5 minutes. Alternately you can microwave them also. But do not expect them to be crispy like the freshly made green beans.
💭Pro Tips
- Place the green beans in the air fryer in a single layer. Never overcrowd or overlap the food in an air fryer. If you are making a large batch, make sure that there are gaps in air circulation.
- While putting beans in the preheated air fryer, be careful as the basket must be hot at this point. Use tongs to spread the green beans uniformly in the air fryer basket.
- Flip the green beans cooking in the air fryer halfway through the cooking time. The best practice is to flip them and change the place of the beans sitting in the center with that the ones on the periphery of the basket. This ensures the even cooking of all the green beans.
- If you root for a mess-free air fryer cooking. Use air fryer silicon mats or punched parchment paper. They do not hamper the air circulation and are also easy to clean and maintain.
- It is always a good idea to open the air fryer and check for the doneness 2-3 minutes before the suggested time. Pull out the air fryer basket before the lowest given cook time in a recipe and see for yourself, how much more time you need to perfectly air fry the frozen green beans.
- If you are making frozen breaded green beans, cook them for 8-9 minutes at 400 0F. Spray them with cooking oil, after placing them in the air fryer basket. Then cook for 8-9 minutes or until the breaded coating becomes golden brown.

It is best to cook frozen veggies at higher temperatures. If you cook them at lower temperatures, they turn out soggy and tasteless instead of crispy and delicious. I like to use 400 0F for most frozen veggies. For example, carrot fries, Brussel sprouts, frozen corn, etc.
But some veggies that are small-sized but need to cook thoroughly, go for slightly lower temperatures of 380 0F. This prevents the exterior from charring before they are fully done from inside. Also, breaded veggies like breaded okra and breaded green beans need slightly lower air fryer temperatures.
Some frozen veggies are precooked or steamed. In that case, I go for 380 0F, like the steamed frozen broccoli, steamed stir fry veggies, etc.
Wash the green beans and snip the edges. Then in a bowl add olive oil and spices of your choice. Now add green beans and coat them well. Transfer them to a parchment-lined baking tray. Then oven roasts them at 425 0F for 14-15 minutes or until fully done.
